THE TRUTH ABOUT GOD'S AGAPE LOVE WILL MAKE YOU FREE
( John 8:32)
And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
That “missing the mark” is missing the truth that God is a God of grace is again
reinforced when Jesus healed the man that was blind from birth:
“For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may
see, and that those who see may be made blind.” Then some of the Pharisees
who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, “Are we blind
also?” Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but
now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains” (John 9:39-41).
Christ came to reveal God’s character of agape love to those who did not
know it—they were blind to it. Those that are blind through ignorance have
no sin—“If you were blind, you would have no sin.” But after believing in
Him, they now see God as He truly is. If they accept this good news, they are
free indeed—the truth has made them free. The apostle John goes on to say:
And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding,
that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His
Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life (1 John 5:20).
